Wildlife
There is abundant wildlife here at Ward Manor at Buck Mountain. We sometimes tell guests that Nature, rather than we ourselves, is your host! During your stay, you may well see Deer, Raccoons, Opossums, Skunks, Coyotes, Foxes, Ducks, Geese, Herrings, and all other manner of birds. There are bears and wildcats in the woods, although they are seldom seen and not considered to be a threat. If you come upon wild animals, please do not feed them, or otherwise try to engage them. We are more in their space than they are in ours, and we want to, for the most part, encourage them to stay. Everyone enjoys seeing them! If you encounter a bear in the woods, try to stay calm, stand still, and once it passes, back away slowly. Do not make a sudden move, or act aggressively. Chances are you will not see a bear, but they do live in the woods. They are usually more afraid of us than we are of them, and will pass by unless they feel you are a threat, or give them a reason to chase.
